Guido de Croon is a Professor of Bio-inspired Micro Air Vehicles in the Department of Control & Operations at the Micro Air Vehicle Lab (MAVLab) at Delft University of Technology (the Netherlands). His research interests include new, bio-inspired approaches to AI, efficient control techniques, and improving the design of flapping wing drones. This involves developing computationally efficient algorithms for robot autonomy involving computer vision and evolutionary robotics. He led work at the MAVLab that succeeded in making a swarm of 33-gram drones capable of exploring an unknown indoor space and returning to the departure point. De Croon earned his PhD in Artificial Intelligence from Maastricht University (the Netherlands).
